State Municipal Aid Grants awarded for local road work

TRENTON – A statewide total of $150 million in Fiscal Year 2026 Municipal Aid has been awarded to 537 cities and towns across the state including East Greenwich, Logan, Swedesboro, Woolwich, and South Harrison Township. This money is to be used for road projects.

East Greenwich Township is scheduled to receive $170,251 to be put towards Timberland Road improvements. Logan Township will receive $243,215 to be put towards resurfacing of Beckett Road – Phase 2. South Harrison Township will receive $218,894 for the reconstruction of Lincoln Mill Road, Ferrell Road and Marl Road. Swedesboro is scheduled to receive $291,858 for resurfacing of Broad Street, Second Street to Locke Avenue, varying the road width from 30 to 40. Woolwich Township will receive $170,251 to go towards improvements to Back Creek Road.

The competitive Municipal Aid grant program attracted 591 applications from 537 different

municipalities with a total of $363 million requested. Every municipality that applied for funding, all 537 municipalities, received a grant, totaling $150 million statewide.

Under the Municipal Aid grant program, each county is apportioned a share of the total funding

based on population and the number of local centerline miles. Municipalities compete for portions of their county’s share. NJDOT provides 75 percent of the grant amount when a town awards a contract and the remaining 25 percent upon completion of the project.
