Seasonal Wellness Support Available

WOOLWICH TWP. — The winter months can hit hard for some individuals unable to leave their residence for any reason. In collaboration with the Gloucester County Health Department, Woolwich Township Police, and other local groups, Kingsway Regional High School Senior Haley Blair is offering isolation prevention/home support bags for anyone homebound for any length of time.

The physical limitation of someone recovering from surgery or medical procedures, illness, injury, pregnancy related complications, mental health episodes, or any mobility limitations can impede safety, health, and well-being.

“Some individuals may not have access to supplies, food, or even activities to prevent loneliness, isolation, or depression”, Blair stated with concern.

This effort was prompted through the National Honor Society service project for the local Kingsway High School Chapter. Blair used her experience as a Be Strong Global State Representative to initiate her passion for this project.

The Gloucester County Health Department will provide bags with resources to use. In addition, Blair has created a 60-day daily activity calendar (electronic free) to perform from home. For those with computer access, there are additional 60 days of free websites to use for daily activities.

Woolwich Township Police Captain Anthony Verrilli has offered the Woolwich Township Police Department, 120 Village Green Drive, Woolwich, as one of the pick-up locations for the bags. Swedesboro Councilwoman Jo Anna Gahrs, the Swedesboro Board of Health Liaison, will help distribution from Swedesboro Borough Hall, 1500 Kings Highway, Swedesboro.

Additional distribution locations will be shared online. Should pick-up not be an option for you or someone you know, please send a drop-off address for contactless delivery to your door. Call or text (856) 693-6526 for this option.

Be sure to visit the Woolwich Township Parks and Recreation’s Summer Camps, Day Cares, and Sports Camps Expo between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Woolwich Township Municipal Building where Blair will also be distributing important information on Springtime Safety-Wellness Public Service Announcements.
