FURever As Friends Honored by County Freeholders

furever webLOGAN TWP. — FURever as Friends, a pet therapy non-profit organization, was honored with a Proclamation by the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Feb. 4, for “its dedication and service to the residents of Gloucester County by promoting literacy through its S.M.I.L.E program (Silent Mentors in Literacy Education) and providing the ABC’s of Life (Affection, Brighten One’s Day and Companionship) for the elderly.”

The proclamation, signed by Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger on behalf of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, was presented to FURever as Friends Founders Sharon and John Bednar at a S.M.I.L.E event held at the Logan Township branch of the Gloucester County Library System.

In attendance at the presentation, in addition to nine therapy pet teams and dozens of children and their parents, were Freeholders Giuseppe (Joe) Chila, Dan Christy and Heather Simmons. Also present to honor FURever as Friends was Gloucester County Library System Director Anne Wodnick.

FURever as Friends is made up of dedicated volunteers and loving, well trained certified therapy dogs, cats and rabbits. The teams of handlers and therapy pets are focused on serving community residents of all ages.

The services provided are specifically designed to offer unconditional love via pet-assisted therapy to adults and children in a variety of library, school, hospital and continuing care facility settings.
