Woolwich Named As 4th Safest City in NJ  

safest webWOOLWICH TWP. – Woolwich Township was named as the fourth safest cities to live in New Jersey, according to BackgroundChecks.org.

The top five cities in order were Warren in Somerset County, Saddlebrook in Bergen County, Chatham in Morris County, Woolwich Township, and then Sparta in Sussex County.

Finishing out the top 10 were Mahwah in Bergen County, Denville in Morris County, Montgomery in Somerset County, Raritan in Hunterdon County, and Berkeley Heights in Union County.

No other town, other than Woolwich Township, made the list from Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, Cape May, Atlantic or Camden Counties.

According to the BackgroundChecks.org website, their list was compiled based on FBI violent crime stats and propriety BackgroundChecks.org research data.  Rates are normalized per 100,000 residents with the state average being 261 for violent crime and 1,734 for property crime.

They list Woolwich as, “A township in Gloucester County, Woolwich has a current population of 10,200 residents.  The township is home to several unincorporated communities, as well as two wineries and several historic sites.  The violent crime rate in Woolwich is 9.7, and residents have a .06% chance of being involved in a property crime.”
