Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at Trinity

SWEDESBORO — Trinity Episcopal “Old Swedes” Church will conduct the traditional Ways or Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, April 7 from 5 to 6 p.m.

The devotional exercise of praying in front of each of the 14 stations and meditating on the Passion of Christ stems from the practice of early Christian pilgrims who visited the scenes of the events in Jerusalem and walked the traditional route from the supposed location of Pilate’s house to Calvary.

Trinity was founded as a Swedish Lutheran Parish in 1703 and was the first Swedish congregation in New Jersey. Customary Swedish desserts will be served after the service following the traditions of the early settlers in New Sweden as they celebrated Good Friday (Långfredagen).

Whether you are Episcopalian, Catholic or just anyone interested in participating in this solemn service, we welcome you to join us.
