Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks & Recreation Upcoming Events

Join us for a Salute to Little League Softball with a movie night on Friday, April 14 at the Walter Hill School Gym at 7 p.m. We will be showing “A League of Their Own”. Please note the movie is rated PG and is recommended for ages 10 and older.

Water and popcorn will be provided. Bring a blanket if you want to sit on the floor. This is a free event sponsored by Swedesboro-Woolwich Little League.

Locke Ave Park Family Fun Day will be held Saturday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is for families with young children. We revamped our Fun Day event. It is now called Family Fun Day with the emphasis on family.

Our rides and activities will be geared to children under 12 years old. Most importantly, the day will begin earlier at 11 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. There will not be fireworks this year. There will be kiddie rides and bounce houses, food vendors and non-food vendors.

Our main attraction will be Grandpop Bubbles from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Set your alarm for 10:45 a.m. to be first in line to see Grandpop Bubbles. Grandpop Bubbles will bring his bubble wands, poles, basins, buckets, and 120+ gallons of special bubble juice for as many kids as possible to enjoy bubbling with him.

The best part of this is that children of ALL ages will share 4 foot bubble wands, “Superwands”, and his 3 foot bubble “Tristrings” (two sticks and loop) to make bubbles. He guarantees that you will make the BIGGEST bubbles of your life — whatever your age.

Grandpop will make bubbles can be 10′, 20′, 30′, 50′ and even longer! For photos of his bubbles, please go to Grandpop Bubbles on Facebook.

Mister Malcolm is also scheduled to perform on our stage. Mr. Malcolm is an interactive storyteller who brings famous fairytales to life by involving his audience in the presentation and produces shows for children at the Broadway Theater of Pitman

We are looking for dance groups, karate schools, and other performers to perform on our main stage. Please email Shannon Kilpatrick, SW Parks & Rec Coordinator, at skilpatrick@woolwichtwp.org if your group would like to perform.

Join us for a charming Cruise on The River Lady, a 150 passenger, 85′ authentic reproduction of a paddle wheel riverboat on Tuesday, June 20. The bus leaves Locke Ave Park at 10:30 am. and the estimated return time is 5:30 p.m.

The River Lady captures the ambiance of a 19th century Mississippi Paddleboat. The River Lady cruises the Toms River and Barnegat Bay of New Jersey. During the cruise, the captain will present a full historical narration.

We will eat lunch in the indoor main deck. After lunch, passengers can visit the upper outdoor deck. Each guest must choose one main entree in advance. Luncheon entrees are listed on Ticketleap.

On the way home, we will stop in Historic Smithville Village. We will be there at least one hour. The cost $92 per person.
