Swedesboro Council Purchases Properties For Parking

SWEDESBORO – The Borough of Swedesboro has purchased two properties on Second Street to help alleviate an upcoming shortage of main street parking due to the construction of a commercial and residential complex on Kings Highway next to The Red Hen.

This open lot is currently being used as general parking for the town. The loss of use of this has been the subject of concern for businesses and residents.

To help with this issue, the borough has purchased 315 and 319 Second Street which is the block behind Kings Highway. The properties currently have houses on them.

The borough has allocated $600,000 for the clearing of the properties and to create the parking lot. The ordinance to purchase these properties and allocate the money was passed at the May 15 Swedesboro Council meeting.
