East Greenwich Shred Event, Saturday April 20

MICKLETON — The East Greenwich Twp. Environmental Commission and Green Team in cooperation with the Board of County Commissioners are sponsoring an open shredding event on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Public Works Garage located at 96 East Rattling Run Road, Mickleton.

As an added bonus free tree seedlings will be available to residents the same day as part of the New Jersey Forest Service’s New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign.

Reduce clutter, cleanout and purge your personal records. Protect yourself from identity theft while being green. What to toss: bills once payment has been cleared your account; bank and credit card statements once they are reconciled. With online banking, these statements are available on the institution’s website. Investment statements if you can easily get a copy from your broker or advisor.

What to keep: tax returns and all documentation for seven years; all documentation of real estate purchases as well as documentation of improvements to the property for as long as you own the property.

Bring your bags and boxes of paper to be shredded. An experienced operator form DocuVault will move the disposal bins to a highly secure, mobile shredding unit where your confidential material will be destroyed as you watch.

One hundred percent of the shredded paper is recycled. Only paper from residents will be accepted. No businesses.  Please no plastic bags or metal including 3-ring binders and binder clips. Staples and paper clips are acceptable.

We will also accept electronics for recycling but no televisions larger than 60 inches. If you remove hard drives from computers, they may be able to provide onsite destruction depending on DocuVault’s truck.
