ST. PETER’S COMMUNITY PANTRY NEWS

CLARKSBORO — In just eight short months, St. Peter’s Community Pantry has quadrupled the number of families being served through its distribution on the fourth Saturday of the month.

These Gloucester County families come from all walks of life and all socio-economic backgrounds. What they all have in common is that they are going through a rough time and need the kindness of strangers.

When we meet our clients, we meet senior citizens struggling to survive on meager social security benefits, or young mothers with two or three children who are running from domestic violence or embroiled in a bitter divorce.

These are normal, everyday people who are caught in situation where they need help.

Many of you were generous at our recent food drive at ShopRite of Woolwich. We are very grateful for your support. While that event brings in a significant amount of food for the pantry, we are only able to host a ShopRite event three times a year.

For the remaining months, we must find other avenues to stock our shelves. We continue to host a monthly Contactless Food Drive on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon, but we must also spend a significant amount of money every month to purchase supplies that we need to fill the bags.

If you would like to make a cash donation to St. Peter’s Community Pantry, or would like to purchase a gift card at ShopRite, we would be very grateful for your support. Donations can be mailed to the pantry at 304 Kings Highway, Clarksboro, NJ 08020.

We are also looking for corporate sponsors. Does your company offer matching donations, or have events to support local charities? If so, please consider approaching the management and sharing our information. We would be happy to make a presentation about the pantry.

The number of families served by our pantry has grown every month, and so has our need for community support. St. Peter’s Community Pantry is meant to serve Gloucester County residents, your friends and neighbors. Please consider helping.
