Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks & Recreation Upcoming Events

WOOLWICH TWP. — The Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks and Rec Committee would like to extend our thanks to Damask Candies for their generous donation of chocolate bunny taffies that were given out to the children that found the golden eggs at the Easter Scramble on Sunday, April 13. Damask Candies is now closed for the summer months and will re-open in the Fall.

FAMILY FUN DAY

It is time for Family Fun Day. This event will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We have a rain date this year on Sunday, May 18 at the same time. Please check our Facebook page, Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks and Recreation, to determine if we move to the rain date.

This event is for families with young children. There will be games, face painting, mini golf, amusement rides, bounce house, food vendors and non-food vendors. We are bringing back pony rides this year.

Our main stage entertainment features the following: Mini Mojos at 11 a.m., Fit to Dance Studio at 11:50 a.m., Dance Artistry Center at 12:10 p.m. Then the students from Drop the Mic will perform from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the entertainment.

Sweetsboro Pastry Shoppe is sponsoring a Cupcake Coloring Contest for children aged 10 and younger. The coloring page can be picked up at the Woolwich Twp Building, Sweetsboro Pastry Shoppe or downloaded on the Township website.

Entries are turned in at the ticket booth on Family Fun Day. Two lucky winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to the bakery.

Last by not least, Grandpop Bubbles is back again. He is scheduled to make massive bubbles from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children can also make bubbles. There will be a small fee this year to participate in the bubble area. Please check out Grandpop Bubbles on Facebook.

DIG IT

Join us to learn about Prehistoric Life of New Jersey, Dig It. (Dinosaurs, Mammoths & Sharks) presented by Marc Rogoff from the NJDEP on Saturday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at the Woolwich Township Municipal Building. Marc will teach us about the Prehistoric Life of New Jersey covering dinosaurs, mammoths, sharks, and more.

New Jersey’s wildlife has always been diverse and interesting. In this presentation, you’ll examine fossils from New Jersey from one billion years ago and learn about today’s endangered and threatened species. Marc will discuss the changes in terrain, sea level, and climate that influenced our native species over geologic history.

You’ll have the opportunity to sort through 15-million-year-old sediments to find fossils you can keep. This program is ideal for children aged 8 to 12 years old. The class size is limited to 40 children, and the program lasts 60 minutes.

PICKLEBALL TOURNEY

Lastly, save the date for the Woolwich Township Pickleball Tournament to be held on May 31 and June 1. In addition, there will be pickleball lessons held in May. Please check the Woolwich Township website for additional information.
