WOOLWICH TWP. — After eight months of service in the Red Sea, U.S. Navy sailor Aidan Winters has returned home to a proud and grateful community.
Aidan, a 2022 graduate of Kingsway Regional High School, and son of Melissa Gammell and Scott Winters, served aboard the USS Harry S. Truman, one of the U.S. Navy’s most formidable aircraft carriers. His deployment involved vital operations in the Red Sea, a region critical to global security, where he and his fellow sailors upheld a longstanding commitment to peace, stability, and international cooperation.
Family gathered at the pier in Norfolk, VA to welcome Aidan home with open arms.
“We’re just so proud of him,” said his mother, Melissa. “He showed strength and dedication every step of the way. It’s an emotional moment having him home safe.”
Aidan’s journey from Kingsway Regional High School to serving aboard one of the Navy’s most respected ships is a testament to his discipline, courage, and sense of duty. Now back on home soil, he looks forward to spending time with loved ones and enjoying the comforts of civilian life that he missed while at sea.
