Music echoed through Masso’s event center, and hugs and compliments filled the room as Kingsway’s juniors traded textbooks for tuxedos and dresses for Kingsway Regional High School’s Junior Prom 2026.
Kingsway held its first EVER junior prom on May 16, and with around 200 students in attendance. The junior prom had a theme of an enchanted garden and was a big success amongst the student body!
One of the highlights of the evening was the strong sense of community among the junior class. Students could be seen helping each other with photos, hyping one another up on the dance floor, and making sure everyone felt included in the celebration.
In addition to dancing, students enjoyed Masso’s food, desserts, and opportunities to capture memories at the photo booth. Many attendees described the night as a chance to rest from the stress of classes, AP exams, athletics, and extracurricular activities. They finally were having a fun moment with friends.
Planning began early this school year, with the first reveal of the event happening at Kingsway’s Junior Class of 2027 meeting, and students were full of excitement. The event was similar to homecoming, with students able to bring outside guests and purchase tickets online.
In December, students had the chance to win free prom tickets by sending in their ideas for the prom theme. After another round of voting, the ultimate theme was selected to be Enchanted Garden, and the winner of the competition was Gianna-Gonzalez Simone.
The junior prom’s success culminated as a result of the junior class advisors Ms. Fisher and Ms. Kelly, the student junior class officers, and the event’s chaperones, who also played a major role in organizing the event and ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the evening!
As the night came to a close, students left with sore feet, full camera rolls, and memories that will likely last far beyond junior year. And now, with senior year quickly approaching, junior prom served as both a celebration of the present and a reminder of how fast high school moments can pass. Kingsway hopes to see more junior proms in the future!
