A Great Horned Owl was trapped in a soccer goal netting at Locke Ave. Park on July 22. It was extracted from the webbing with the quick thinking of Supervisor Mike Whitcraft. He said it was a collaborative effort along with coworkers Steve Maiers and Fonze Clark. They were also helped by the foreman from Wyndham Construction who is doing work on the park.

The bird was freed, unharmed, and flew away.

Thank you for sharing this story! Did the owl suffer any injuries? Was it released back into the wild? If so, was it released back to Lock Ave Park, or some other location? Please provide more details to the story.
The owl flew right off without a problem.
